LymphocyteCount.org is an independent, family-run educational site asking that the absolute lymphocyte count, a number printed on every routine blood test, be read and acted on in cancer care.
LymphocyteCount.org is an independent educational site founded in 2026 by Dr. Gary Kompothecras and Beth Kompothecras of Sarasota, Florida, after Beth's absolute lymphocyte count fell to 525 following colon-cancer treatment without ever being discussed. The site links every claim to peer-reviewed or regulatory sources, and asks that the lymphocyte count, already printed on every complete blood count, be read, recorded and acted on for every cancer patient. It is self-funded and accepts no industry money or advertising.
LymphocyteCount.org is an independent, self-funded educational site created by Dr. Gary Kompothecras and Beth Kompothecras of Sarasota, Florida. Beth was treated for stage 3 colon cancer in 2023; two years later, with clear scans, her absolute lymphocyte count was 525 cells per microliter, roughly half the lower limit of normal, and had never been raised by her care team. In 2026 she received ten injections of the IL-15 superagonist Anktiva under an FDA-authorized expanded-access protocol at the Chan Soon-Shiong Institute for Medicine, and her count returned to the normal range. The site presents the peer-reviewed literature tying a low lymphocyte count to survival across cancers, documents the absence of any U.S. oncology guideline that acts on it, and labels Anktiva honestly as approved for one bladder-cancer indication and investigational for lymphopenia. Its documentary presentation, Killing Cancer, was prepared for Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his policy staff. The site carries no advertising and has received no funding or editorial input from any pharmaceutical company.

From the family's published statement, September 2026. Attribute as shown.
"For more than two years afterward, Beth did everything conventional and integrative medicine could offer, and the cells that actually fight cancer and infection, her lymphocytes, kept falling, all the way to 525. She was told she was cancer-free. She was not well, and no one could tell us what to do about it."Dr. Gary Kompothecras
"We say that plainly, and with some discomfort, because most families cannot make those calls. That is exactly why we are writing."Dr. Gary Kompothecras, on getting Beth enrolled
"Make sure the number that predicted Beth's suffering is read on every cancer patient's chart, and make sure that the next Beth can be treated without knowing anyone. We were lucky. Luck should not be part of the protocol."Dr. Gary Kompothecras
"They knew my name. They explained the science to me in plain language and never talked down to me. They watched my numbers as closely as I did, and they celebrated with me when they came back."Beth Kompothecras
Dr. Gary and Beth are available for interviews. Patients featured in Killing Cancer may be reachable through the family; please ask.
